Customer Question

C543dn will not print via network cable.
1. Both ends of cable light are alight.
2. Computer indicates document is printing.
3. Printer properties indicate Lexmark Ethernet port is inactive.
4. Printer prints reports OK from the actual machine.

Any advice please?

Colin Wilson

We need to change a few things

1. run a different ethernet cable from the print to the router

2. turn the router off for 15 seconds, then turn it back on by pulling out the power plug then putting it back in

3. turn the printer off then back on after resetting the router in step 2

4. restart any computer that will connect to the printer

5. once computer restarts, try to connect and print to the printer

Customer replied 605 days and 21 hours ago.

Sorry but that had no result either.

Is printer directly connected to computer OR network router?

Customer replied 603 days and 22 hours ago.

A network router. By the way, I have successfully "pinged" the port.

1. Move the ethernet cable to a different port on the router

2. Reboot the printer if need be perform a firmware update on the router

3. Reboot the router

Try to print

Customer replied 602 days and 23 hours ago.

Router firmware is absolutely up-to-date but still no response from the printer

Please confirm that you moved the ethernet cable to a different port on the router

if after installing the softwarw various times and communication link is good, then the problem is with the computer initiating the print command

Try to print from other systems on the same network only after installing the pertinent software on one or more of those systems

Take your time with this as the outcome will tell us exactly where the problem is

I've solved the problem myself by changing the Lexmark driver. Why that worked, I don't know, since I had not taken any action to change the driver and it worked well before.

Thanks anyway.
