Screen indicates Ink System Failure 0xc19a0003 . Followed

This answer was rated:

Screen indicates "Ink System Failure 0xc19a0003". Followed screen instruction to turn printer Off then On with same results. Printhead Health check indicates "Missing or Failed Printhead". All four color cartridges have recently been replaced and ink level checks indicate sufficient in all for printing.

Robert Preston :

Hello,

Welcome to JustAnswer. My name isXXXXX and I will be assisting you with your problem today.

The Ink System Failure on an HP Printer is a print head issue. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. To attempt to resolve it, do the following:

(1) Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over
(2) Remove the ink cartridges from the print head.
(3) Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water to thoroughly clean the print head and each ink cartridge.
(4) Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.
(5) Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges
(6) Try to print something now

If that does not work then you have one of two possibilities:
(1) One of the ink cartridges is defective and causing the error
(2) If it's definitely not that, then the print head will need to be replaced.

Customer:

When you say clean the print head and each ink cartridge, do you mean the plastic areas around the ink sections (the spongy parts) or include the spongy parts themselves?

Robert Preston :

Clean the entire area where the ink cartridges sit inside of the printer.

Customer:

What about the metal contacts for each cartridge?

Robert Preston :

Yes

Customer:

Tried the above steps and it still comes up with the same error message.

Robert Preston :

Then the printhead would have to be replaced.

Customer:

The printhead is still under warranty with HP. I'll have to contact HP for replacement. Thanks

Robert Preston :

Ok they will cover it for sure then and it's an easy swap.

Robert Preston :

Then you'll be good to go.

Customer:

So, replacing the printhead is something I, with a modicum of electrical knowledge, could do?

Robert Preston :

Yes, instructions should be included. In the event that HP does not do that at this time (for supply issues) they will just ship you a new printer.

Customer:

Ok, thanks again.
