Epson Stylus CX7800 says clear paper Jam , but there is no

Epson Stylus CX7800 says "clear paper Jam", but there is no paper jam. Printer will not work as it is convinced there is a paper jam.

Have your tried forcing a piece of paper to run through thr track, sometimes that will reset the error.

Also.. what error message is dislayed on the control panel?

I already responded but, nothing is happening so I'll respond again.
Yes, I've tried forcing something through. The printer does the initial paper grab, but I can't advance anything past that.

The display reads:E-04 and says "Clear paper jam, then press Start"

you could try downloading the sc service utility, it is supported for that model.

Using it, you should be able to reset the internal firmware.. which should clear out that error.

If after the error is cleared, it comes back.. Then. one of the sensors is damaged.

I had another engagement. Just getting back to my computer now.

I would love to use the sc service utility, except they don't make a version for the mac.

I guess I could try to find a PC user who would be willing to help me out.

A part from that, any other ideas.

well.. do you have boot camp or parralels installed onyour mac.

so you can run windows programs?

If so. you could run the program from inside the windows side.

No I don't have boot camp. I have Virtual PC (older software) that may run on an old G4
that I have. I could try that route, but my experience with Virtual PC before was crash after crash.
I'm not sure if I want to risk wasting the time.

Perhaps I'll just find a friend with a PC who is willing to download the driver as well as the utility.

It doesn't appear that I have many other options.

Hey Dustin,
Thanks for all your help back in May.
I ended up taking both of my Epson printers to the shop.
I was fortunate enough to find a place that serviced them about an hour and a half away.
Thanks for all your perseverance though.
Sorry it has taken so long to get back with you, I've been completely out of the loop since June.
