Optional Information: Make: BrotherModel: MFC 240-C Already Tried: as I do not have a user's guide I took it to a computer shop and they said to get hold of you
Hi,follow this EXACTLY. it is a purge count that got too high.
all my printer is doing right now is flashing the fax copy scan and photo capture buttons and reads machine error F4 perhaps nI did something wrong I pushed the menue button and then *2864
that is the reset sequence for your error. its from the manual.you have 2 seconds to press *2864...Access the internal maintenance mode by pressing the Menu/Set button, then press * 2 8 6 4 within 2 seconds. This should put you in the maintenance mode menu. Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If number is XXXXX 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.
purge count is at 000000 and it will not allow me to change to 2783and I still have the same problem..any other ideas or should I just deepsix this machine and find another
well, if you got the purge count to zeros, then the reset worked. That is the only procedure for this error.Since you have run it by the printshop and the online experts, i would say trash it.It is a pretty old model anyway. these generally are not repairable beyond a new printhead and ink cartridges...wish I had better news.Carl
