my battery is dead. How do I get enough power to it to open the bonnet to get to the battery?

HI,

The only way is using the red lead in the fuse box. The door lock striker will provide good ground(see attached). You need to use either a jump box or charger set to full power(boost start) to supply enough voltage to open the lid. Trickle charge wont do it as it is providing voltage at too low of an amperage
