3.0 to a 3.2 83 91@ have all partschange over man hours does the fuel pump needs to be in the inside the tank?

Having the fuel pump inside the fuel tank helps prevent vapor locking, I believe that was the reason they put them in thee in the first place. If not in the tank, at least near the tank so through most of the fuel system the fuel pump pushes the gasoline instead of trying to pull the gasoline, such as the case when fuel pumps were on the engine. Pushing creates a pressure in the fuel line and fluid under pressure raises the boiling point.
