2009 Porsche Cayenne (non turbo) 80K miles good mechanical

Customer Question

2009 Porsche Cayenne (non turbo) 80K miles good mechanical condition. Gas Gauge showed sharp decline in fuel level suddenly at highway speed. No signs of leakage, no gas smells, nothing in oil. Is this just a possible gauge issue or something more intrusive? Appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Hello, I'm Brandon - Porsche tech.

If the fuel gauge needle is resting at off position while the engine is ON then it is the fuel level sensor problem.

Expert:  internal88 replied 1 year ago.

The fuel level sensor is located in the fuel tank.

There are two fuel level sender in the cayenne. $115 each and it take 3 hours to replace both out.
