Customer Question

I need to know how to remove the rear wheel hub on a 2004 Porsche Cayenne S. I have removed the center hub nut and tried using a gear puller to pull it free but it has not moved at all. I know Porshce uses a special hydraulic tool, is that the only way to remove this hub?

Country: United States

Model: Cayenne S
Year: 2004

I have removed the center hub nut and tried using a gear puller to remove the hub with no success. I know there is a hydraulic tool that Porshce uses but dont know why the gear puller will not work as well.

Hi,how are you? This is a pressed in hub and the gear puller will never be strong enough th get this out for you.The hub has to be pressed out with a heavy duty hydraulic press.

Is that the type of tool that I can rent somewhere or am I stuck taking it to Porsche?

You are stuck taking it somewhere, however any repair shop can make this repair and will have cheaper rates than Porsche.
