Customer Question

are 2004 911 rear breaks noisy?

Country: United States
Make: Porsche
Model: 911 Carrera
Year: 2004

Already Tried:
Just bought the car today - 24,000 mile 2004 in great condition. Rear brakes are loud (squeak) almost like a car on the brake warnings, but the rotors look fine and it appears that the pads have life left in them. Not a grinding sound, just a loud squeak at low speed.

HI,

do they squeak only on low speed braking?

how do the surface of rotors and pads look - dull flat finish, or shniy or glossy finish?

Customer replied 376 days and 1 hours ago.

Only when braking going slow. . Dull flat finish on rotors.

Hi,

Ok, squealing when braking is due to a few different reasons:

rotors are glazed
brake pads are glazed
brake pad ant-rattle clips are loose
brake anti-squal shims are loose or missing.

we know the rotors are not glazed as they have a dull finish.

So, we need to check the pads. If shiny, then use some 100grit sandpaper to sand pad face to get rid of glazing.

If ok, then the anti rattle clips and shims need to be checked and replaced if loose or missing.
