We installed a star-clear plus cartridge filter c9002s. Pool

We installed a star-clear plus cartridge filter c9002s. Pool has been cloudy since installation. We thought problem was chemicals but after having tested they are correct. We took filter apart thinking cartridge might need cleaned cartridge was split in two places across bottom. We installed a new cartridge and water immediately cleared. But within two weeks the water was turning cloudy again. Just checked cartridge again and found the new one was split in three places. Is there a trick to installing these cartridges? The pool man talked us into this filter saying it would save us money - but not if we can't keep the cartridges intact!

There is no doubt what is happening on this. The filter is installed incorrectly with the inlet and outlet that are reversed as to how they should be. Regardless of how the filter is marked you need to switch the in and out lines.
