We are an older pool heater... Teledyne Laars Lite LG
JA: Who manufactured the pool?
Customer: Just replace the Temp control board and new thermistor.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Yes.. me and my husband. I do the research and he does the work. :)
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Basically we turned it on.... it fired up and then kicked out after a few minutes. The thermistat is on full blast. The pool temp says 76F but the thermistor is testing at 86 so probably kicking out the pool heater

It's unlikely that a new thermistor is faulty. It's more likely that you don't have adequate flow through the heater which would indicate a problem with the pressure switch. Here's a link to the manual for your unit

You may have to replace the pressure switch but first try the adjustment procedure on page 14
