obviously its not there we cant see it so where do we go from there would it be sucked into the larger pipes then where any ideas to locate the sponge toy

It would not be able to penetrate the filter themselves so, no it wouldn't be in the plumbing. I've found stuff as small as contact lenses caught in filters. Solids do not make it through.
