Service light on- cannot get to reset. By water readings, we not producing chlorine. I assume salt cell bad. How do i verify that, before spending lots of money?

What type of cell do you have? What does the salt reading read on the unit compared to a professional test?

Jandy- 1400 aqua pure. When the flow lite on, the service lite stays on. The water test said a week ago, that chlorine was very low. I added shock twice since then, just to get it levelled off

If the flow lite is on it is the indicator that there is not enough flow for the SWG (salt water generator) to work. Check the following:

1.) Is the water level high enough in the pool so the skimmer isn't drawing air into the system.

2.) is the skimmer and pump basket clean?

3.) AND the highest reason for this error code (flow light on) is that the filter is dirty and needs to be cleaned. What is the pressure reading on the filter and what type do you have?

If there is not enough flow the unit will not produce any chlorine.

Water line full, skimmers clean, and the filters were cleaned two weeks ago. ....salt cell bad?

Pump reading is 3-4 pounds above clean. Approx14-15

Cartridge filter? Do you have a multiple speed pump or a single speed?

cartridge filters- 4 , single speed pump. .... Is there a way to test salt cells to see if producing properly?

IF you have cartridge filters how old are they? Also there is a flow sensor that can be cleaned off with a scotchbrite pad. IF it has gotten dirty or scaled this can cause a flow error. It can also fail. I have attached a picture. Before replacing this take out your cartridges, run pool and see in a minute or two if the error goes away. If so, then filters are either old or dirty again and may need chemical cleaning. If not then you can check flow sensor out further.

Once you get the flow error light off, you can take a sample of water directly in front of the return where the bubbles come into pool from SWG while it is in generating mode and test for chlorine. It must be in generator mode and you need to take a glass upside down and "catch" the water in that area.

Take into consideration if you have phosphates in water and the SWG cannot produce enough chlorine when they are present in the water.

At any time if you cleaned the filters with muratic acid before cleaning with a degreaser it could have compromised filters. This is just an easy check to do. We like to look at the sensors, filters etc. before looking at the board. You cannot really determine about the cell until you figure out why there is a flow error.

Did not clean with muratic acid. Just soaked and sprayed off very dligently . You keep referring to FLOW lite, is that the same as service lite on jandy system

You may need to purchase a swimming pool cartridge filter cleaner and follow directions. It is important to chemically clean these filters periodically.
