Hello,
I do not see what issue you are having...is the heater not starting?
Not keeping temp?
Noise?
Use reply with information please
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
heater does not fire up ... pilot is lit, pump is on ...
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
earlier in the summer it would fire up either ... i cleaned some connections and (i think out of luck) it fired up
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i do not leave the unit on all the time .. i turn it on to obtain a say 80-82 degrees then attempt to control with solar cover ... only use when outside temps are low

Expert:  Billy replied 1 year ago.
Ok you have a thermopile millivolt system.
This could be a bad thermopile. which is the round rod as thick as a tootsie roll in the pilot assembly.
are you comfortable doing a test at the gas valve?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the pilot is lit
Expert:  Billy replied 1 year ago.
but the pilot can be lit and the pilot generator not producing millivolts to open the valves.
Can you do a test at gas valve?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
can you walk me through the process you'd like me to follow?
Expert:  Billy replied 1 year ago.
on the gas valve should be a white wire on W terminal.
Do you see this wire/terminal and also terminal TH?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
In the gas valve (where you turn on gas to lite the pilot) I see a red and white wire coming from a long skinny casing that follows a skinny silver "pipe" that leads to the back of the pilot
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The casing around the red and white wires appears rusted and corroded as it nears the back of the pilot
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Red goes to th
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
White goes to the back of the pp-th
Expert:  Billy replied 1 year ago.
Great...is there a PP?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
There is a pp "under" the th on the diagram ... So I guess that is in fact where the red is connected
Expert:  Billy replied 1 year ago.
On top of the valve...there should be a TH/PP....a TH....and a PP.
Or if you can take a pic of the top of the valve....we going to move one wire to rest the thermopile...which is the rod with the corroded wire...
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
See pic
Expert:  Billy replied 1 year ago.
THANKS...
pull the black wire....put the white from rod where black was and leave red where it is at. tell me if the valve opens/starts
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Like this?
Expert:  Billy replied 1 year ago.
correct
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No change
Expert:  Billy replied 1 year ago.
That is the problem....you have a bad thermopile generator...The rod in the pilot with the red and white wires.
That rod creates a small voltage when in flame...that is what operates the valve. Yours is no longer creating voltage.
The good news is that it is an easy fix and affordable...less than $70
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok . How do I fix
Expert:  Billy replied 1 year ago.
You buy a new thermopile and replace the one in there.
The red and white wire that runs to the rod.
It comes as a rod and wire assembly
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Do I need to pull out the whole burner assembly?
Expert:  Billy replied 1 year ago.
no,
just the pilot assembly.
Unscrew the pilot tube from gas valve
Unhook pilot assembly from burner...the whole thing comes out easily...not the burner...just the pilot assembly
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thanks
Expert:  Billy replied 1 year ago.
you are very welcome.
If all set just rate service and I will move from active list.
Billy
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I replaced thermopile/pilot generator --- same problem (won't ignite). I can get pilot to lite but it won't fire on
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
When I pull black from TH the pilot goes out ... When I jump white from pp-th to TH I can't get pilot to re-light
