Yes, bubbles are an indicator that there may be a leak in the air
intake line.
May also be accompanied by the pump loosing prime.
Look for leaks in filter caps also.
The pressure relief valve being worn or defective could

The air leak can be anywhere in the system on the intake side and may only
be noticeable when the pump is putting out high pressure.
Look for hairline cracks in any lines.
