when I turn off my pump water blows back through the skimmer probably 10feet high what do I need to fix it

This is usually caused by an air leak.
When the pump cuts off air builds up pressure and blows back the water like a geyser.
A first place to check is the skimmer basket lid.
You have probably been having problems like the pump loosing its
prime.

NOTE: Other causes
Cracks in the air intake hose lines
A bad pressure relief valve.
You can remove and test.
If you can blow air through it (with your mouth) it is defective
