Customer Question

I've got a approx.25000 gallon (16 X 32) in ground pool with a vinyl liner. I've had green water for since i opened the pool on Memorial Day. I've tried shock, algecide and pool 1st aid to no avail. What other options do I have. Please switch from chat mode as it does not work.

Already Tried:
Shock (both liquid and granular), algecide and pool 1st aide product. Brushed sides and bottom (extensively), changed sand in the filter, vaccumed multiple times.

Welcome, how can I help you today? have you had the water tested for metals? A higher than normal Copper level will turn the water a greenish color. Iron will turn a brownish color I have seen this many times before, I would also have the pool tested for Phosfates these phosfates can be found in Fertilizer and lawn seed, if you use a fertilizer near the pool or a neighbor does these phosfates can drift in the wind and enter the pool water causing this reaction, there are some good products out there to treat these conditions. For copper or iron use a product called CONQUEST, this will sequester any metals in the water and allow the chlorine and the filter to clear the pool. Get NO-PHOS to treat the pool for phosfates. Try this and let me know if they help.

Sorry it took so long to respond. Had some computer problems over the weekend. Yes, I had the water tested. Nothing abnormal there. Since asking this question on Friday, I've added more algecide and liquid chlorine (10 gals.). Brushed extensively and vacuumed. It seemed to hel as the water isn't as green as it was. i can see about halfway to the bottom now.
