My WhisperFlo, WFE-3, pump leaks . It appears to be from the bottom of the seal plate as the water accumulates on the bracket under the motor before running on the floor. It is just a small leak, but does a nice puddle by the end of the day. I have replaced the seals and seal pump gaskets, twice, to try to stop this lead. I have used both the black and white gaskets. The white is installed now and leaks less than the black did. I feel like I may have over tightened the seal plate bolts and warped the seal plate. Is that possible. I have tried loosing the bolts a little but the leak is still there. I am about to replace the seal plate gasket again, I have one black gasket left, and borrow a friends torque wrench to torque it to 110 lbs. I have little faith that it will work as I have tried everything and nothing works Should I order a new seal plate? Does it matter which gasket I use? should I use a gasket sealer of some kind? What is the solution?
Already Tried: I really worked hard cleaning and installing the latest gasket. Making sure there was nothing foreign that could be causing the leak. The pump holds prim very well.
Wow, warping the seal plate is pretty hard, but i guess it is possible. before buying a new seal plate, i suggest making sure it is leaking from the seal plate and not the shaft seal. when you are sure it is leaking from the seal plate, then yes get a new seal plate and gaskets. as for the torque wrench, you dont need. just tighten till it wont tighten anymore. and criss cross when you tighten the bolts. first top left, then bottom right, then top right and finally bottom left. good luck.

It must be the shaft seal. I replaced it and followed directions plus I watched the U Tube Video twice. I don't see how I went wrong with the installation.
It is the shaft seal. I just saw a drop fall from the back of the motor. Instructions with the seal said to apply the sealant, press the seal in place and wait 24 hours. The u tube video said nothing about sealant and letting it set for a day. I used sealant but did not wait 24 hr. Thought I had gotten by with it after watching the video.
Use sealant, now i use a 1" coupler and rubber mallet to set the seal in seal plate, then i make sure shaft is clean and install second part of seal.doing my best to keep from touching the ceramic part of the seal assy. once seal has been replaced, put pump back together. do not have to wait 24hrs. goodluck
