Does water PH affect Pentair Challenger inground limited pump warranty or AO Smith parts/seals/bearings?

The following is taken from Pentair's Limited Warranty, as listed in The Pentair 2012 Product Catalog:
" Exceptions that could result in denial of a warranty claim:
6. Damage caused by failure to maintain water chemistry in conformity with the standards of the swimming pool industry for any length of time."
For example, If the PH is on the low end, the water will be acidic, causing deterioration of the pump seal. Once this happens the pump will leak, and the water from this leak can get into the inner workings of the motor, possibly causing bearing failure, and eventually motor failure.
