I just had a new Hayward Super II Pump installed. Electrician just left. The wiring is done correctly (this pump replaces and old pump) Pump kicks on for about 10 seconds and then shuts down. I had them check the voltage and that is correct, it is wired correctly. Could it be a defective "thermal Overload Protector" What else should we check, before I ship the pump back?
Hi my name is Garry
If this is a brand new pump, you may want to remove the basket and try to feel around the impeller area just to be sure nothing got lodged in there. If it is cycling on the overload protector, this is usually because motor is getting very hot
Since you had all the wiring and voltages verified as correct, and if this is still under warranty, you may not want to do too much to this, besisdes returning it for a replacement.
If you open the pump or motor, you may void the warranty, and this is something you don't want to do!
Thanks for the help. Yep, I was thinking the same thing.
I am correct about this being a new pump?
yes brand new out of the carton
