Customer Question

my jandy pool pump (phpm1.5), which came with my anthony sylvan pool, is making a "raspy" noise that it did not make last year. It makes is much louder.

It is less than 1 year old? Is this worth a service call? Any thoughts?

Already Tried:
When pool was opened two days ago, noise was not there. It just arose over the last 24 hours. I have tried to turn pump on/off, but the noise doesn't go away. I also bled off any excess air in the system.

Hello, how can I help you today? A noise like that is from the bearings in the motor. All pool and spa motors use sealed bearings, so there's no lubricating them or anything like that, the only solution is replacing the bearings or the motor itself. Now if the motor is less than a year old, it should still be under warranty. General lifespan on pool motors is 5-7 years. If it's the bearings as I suspect, they will just get louder and louder and put a continued strain on the motor to run and eventually it will begin overheating and shutting down on you. I'd definitely get someone out in the near future before it shuts down on you and you're without circulation until someone can come out. Happy to help out if you still have any more questions on this, Thanks, Jeff
