hi I have a small pool, about 20 x 13 feet. It has a built-in spa. We have the equipment turned off for 2 months now. The pool is leaking. The water in the main pool goes down to 4 inches below the tile line. However, the water in the spa section drops 2 1/2 feet down and is still going. Again, none of the equipment is turned on. We may not be staying in this house for long, so I don't want to spend a lot of money to fix this. The pool water has turned green and dirty due to lack of filtration. Thank you.
Welcome, how can I help you today? Is this a raised spa? The leak will usually stop just at the point of the leak. If it has stopped in the pool then maybe the water in the pool has equalized with the level of the spa water. Obviously the leak has to be in the spa plumbing since this is still going down. You will need to have the plumbing lines pressure tested to determine which line may be the leak. One other thing to try is to isolate the plumbing. Put a winter plug in all the holes in the spa in the returns, and add a little water and then see if it still drops. If still dropping then plug the drains in the spa if the leak stops then we know it is in the plumbing if it continues then the leak is in the spa shell itself.
