I have a raypak 2100 pool/spa heater. I turned it on today for the season and got the ROL, rollover sensor service error. I checked the sensor and it passes current and I also bypassed the sensor and still the ROL message with the number "22" next to it..Any suggestions?
Optional Information: Make : Raypak Model : 2100 Already Tried: bypassing ROL sensor
Hello, how can I help you today? did the heater fire up before you got the rollout error, and is it a resettable sensor with a push button in the center?
No it hasn't fired up since we closed it down in September (Massachusetts) and didn't fire or spark the automatic ingnition. The sensor is not a push button, but I removed it and it has zero electrical resistance. I also bypassed it with no change in the ROL message.
as long as you're positive that you're bypassing the rollout sensor and it's not a resettable unit, then that's going to be a circuit board issue unfortunately. The board won't recognize that you've jumped it and if you jump over it with a jumper wire and take it out of the circuit, shut power down to the heater for a few minutes to reset the code error. if it still comes back up when you try again, then there's a problem with the board. as a last resort, check the board itself to make sure all connections are secure and haven't corroded over the winter and are making a bad connection to the board.
Ok thats what I was thinking and I will accept your answer and I am satisfied. Any Idea on the best way to get a new board and how much it should cost, and do you think I can do it myself , I am pretty good with this stuff.
yes, the board is easily installed, just move one wire and harness at a time. you'll need the model number and maybe the serial number to match up the same board as raypak has changed the design a few times over the years, but once you put the info in on any website, you should be able to locate one, probably run anywhere from $150 to $250 depending on who has it
whenever you're done with me you can just hit the ACCEPT button to close the question, or feel free to ask anything else you need to, happy to help out
