Customer Question

I have recently changed my balboa control box on a hydro-spa tub. when I started the system I got a Low Flow indication. Balboa told me it was the Circulation Pump that was not sufficient. I changed the pump and it does the same thing. Now I am told that that the problem is the outlest for the circulation which currently is three and needs to be four. Any suggestions?
Bob

Already Tried:
I chngesd the pump to what I thought was a higher capacity pump. It is a 1/15th HP 1.3 amp 120 volt pump that according to the company I purchased it from is a 40GPM pump. Same results.

poolguy810 : Hello, how can I help you today? Is this a 2" heater tube on the balboa system? It sounds like you're using a low flow pump on a high flow heater housing. Is the pump a laing, tiny might, or do you happen to know the brand?
Customer :

Well the heater is a Balboa single tube and the pump is a 110 Volts, Model 5KCP35DNB819X, Marathon Electric-Division Circulation Pump.
It is supposed to be a 40 GPM pump at 1.3 amps yet the piump removed was a 1/12th HP ---causing me to wonder if it actually is a larger capacity.oca bigger .

Customer :

I. I purchased a VS51SZ Balboa Control to replace a Balboa DU-HS-200-DCAH previously installed.

I installed it per the appropriate instructions and upon start up obtained a code indicating DR and then DRY. I called your technical support and you indicated that the pump installed a 110 volt 1/15th HP model circulation pump

model 5KH39BNA523X was of the improper size and that I would require a circulation pump providing at least 23GPM.

I purchased a replacement pump from a vendor ---Spa Mechanic ---who provided Marathon Pump and Motor, 110 Volts, Model 5KCP35DNB819X, Marathon Electric-Division Circulation Pump.
It is supposed to be a 40GPM pump.

After installation I still get a DY and the DRY code and even got a code of LF (low flow). I followed your charts advise to include---removing the filter, bleeding the lines, priming the pump and yet the heating system still shuts down.

I was advised that I need to install additional outlets by the Spa Mechanic. But---this seems like a lot of expense and unwarranted work. Had I known these problematic issues may arise through simple upgrade I would have let the older system be as it was. My The circulation pump has one input (from the filter) and three outputs............

poolguy810 : It almost sounds like there's not enough back pressure in the heater tube to activate the sensors, is the heater tube 2" ? Also, what size plumbing is going in and out of the heater?
Customer :

The heater ube is 2-inches..sorry

poolguy810 :

and what size plumbing is going in and out of your circulation pump, is it also 2" or much smaller?
