After an overnight freeze compool cp3600 stopped working. No power to indoor remote.Tried to get pump operating in service mode. Relay just clicked. Switched relays on panel got pump to start up, then stopped after about 20 minutes. I have bypassed main pump from panel to allow manuel operation. I can switch from service to auto, but nothing will turn on. what's up and what will I need to fix it.
Hello, how can I help you today? when you get the pump to come on, does it actually start pumping or is it just humming like it might have some ice in it?
pump comes on and is operating normally since bypassing compool system. I live in southern Calif. and only get overnight freeze.
well, on the indoor remote problem, you can remove it from the wall and check for voltage between the #1 and #4 terminals, you should have between 8-10 volts there. If not, then it's not getting any power from the outside box. apparently the pump itself is fine since it's running without the controller hooked into it. is there anything else hooked into the controller that is operating or not operating, just wondering if everything is acting up or just the pump relay?
Nothing else on compool system is working, I am tring to determine if I need a new circuit board or if relays are bad. I am seeing some moisture inside relay boxes. I am going to try to reset the power box. inside control panel is fine. where and how should I test for voltage on outside control panel.
if you do have moisture in the outside box, i'd hit it with a hair dryer for 15 or 20 minutes and get everything dried out, it could very well be temporarily shorting the relays and the board may still be okay. Hot tub boards do this randomly as well and many times drying them out takes care of the problem. if that doesn't make any difference, I'll need to access my office computer remotely to get the wiring diagrams so I can talk you through some other testing if we have to go there.
Alright, being saturday, I will give it a go and see what happens. I am thinking worst case scenario is that I am rebuilding box with new circuit board and new relays.
yeah, but I wouldn't jump at that right away until we rule out some of the simple things first. i'll be online on and off today and all day tomorrow if you need me. just send the question and i'll get back to you as quickly as possible, thanks, jeff
Ok, I can get pool cleaner`to work off compool circuit by turning on filter pump which I have bypassed from compool system. I have to reset compool circuit by switching off power, hitting reset button on board, swithching to service mode, hitting pool cleaner button. Cleaner pump works for 5 minutes then compool system shuts off. Don't know if a circuit is heating up. Shouldn't have anything to do with filter pump not being connected to compool, because cleaner pump starts up immediately without delay when I go though above steps. I have bypassed filter pump just to keep pool clean.
okay, sounds like it may be getting to the board as an issue, were you able to dry it out with any success?
Just following up with you to see whether we had resolved the issue at all. If you feel I've hellped you out at all, just hit the ACCEPT button to close out the question, or if we still need to troubleshoot some more, i'd be happy to help, thanks, jeff
