I went to auto zone twice they just told me that it was the gas cap causing the check engine light they never gave me a code
Expert:  Chad Farhat replied 5 months ago.

how did they know it was a gas cap , it will show a code ,

a check engine light will come on for one fault or 10 fault and each one has a code so we can identify the issue

sometime the people auto zone dont know how to use the scanner

, try another one they should give you a print out

cause now we have nothing to go on

it can not be bad if no light now , most likely emissions related , like a gas cap or a vacuum hose leaking, if car still driving good
