I have a 2009 Pontiac G6. I had a alarm installed on

Customer Question

I have a 2009 Pontiac G6. I had a alarm installed on Tuesday, then yesterday the car locked up on me. The dashboard showed the car symbol with a lock. Now the Chevy dealer is saying that I have an electrical shortage, which will cost $425 to repair.
Why didn't I know that I had this problem before the alarm was put on the car. I didn't have any signs that my car had any electrical problems before the alarm was installed. Now suddenly, I have an electrical problem. Somethings seems very wrong here

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

If the problem is actually related to the alarm being installed then it could be an installation error or a failure in a component of the alarm system. What are they saying is the actual problem and what needs to be replaced?
