tell me how and when this problem first began

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
replaced plugs/wires, checked fuel pressure
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
car sat for about 6 months, I bought it like this
Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.

i understand,,but when did this problem first begin,,,what did it do?

Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.

i see,,

tell me,will it fire up with starting fluid or a little fuel into the throttle body?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
nope, not at all. that's what's confusing me. I get spark to each plug, car still won't catch for a few seconds on starting fluid
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
also replaced cam sensor
Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.

it never fires at all?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
well each plug fires, I checked each plug when it was turning over trying to start
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
no check engine light, by the way, and I also scanned it with an OBD2 checker
Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.

but the engine doesnt fire up at all with the prime?[starting fluid or a little fuel into the throttle body]

Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.

does it have a fuel injector pulse?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
checked the injectors with a noid light checker
Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.

ok..have you checked the compression?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
checked VATS- ok, no security light
Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.

ok..have you checked the compression?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
the one thing I haven't checked is compression, though that seems unlikely as there is no obvious evidence, I did check the head gaskets
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
but timing checks out with a light
Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.

ok..

the fact is,,there is no reason for it not to fire up for a second with a prime if it has a spark and is in time

Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.

so,,if it does have a sprark,,i would think the timing is off on the chain

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
it gets fuel, and air, and spark
Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.

it should fire with the prime if it was in time and has compression, reguadless of what else may be wrong

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
nothing else but timing left, assuming the compression is ok. correct?
Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.

so,i would think it jumped on the chain

Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.

that is correct

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
never thought about jumping off the chain. perhaps some teeth broke. can only check it I guess
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
was hoping to avoid ripping everything apart
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
very well, I appreciate4 your time, thanks very much
Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.

sometimes the chian may stretch and jump a notch..it doesnt have a belt

Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.

you are very welcome

Customer: replied 11 months ago.

Expert:  tims auto repair replied 11 months ago.
