The display on the dash says " starting disabled due to anti-theft system". Then it says,"Service anti-theft system". Car want start
Expert:  Don 'Mo Lurch' replied 1 year ago.

thank you for the added info........

.

The BCM will send a message to the driver information center (DIC) to display Starting Disabled Due To Theft System when the BCM has either received no key transponder value or the incorrect key transponder value.
Typically this is caused from a Key that has lost Programming or low Battery
Try:
Be sure Battery is fully charged
Close Hood, Trunk & all doors
Lock vehicle with Remote
Leave vehicle "undisturbed" for apprx 15 minutes
Unlock vehicle with another Factory Remote
Try starting
IF the vehicle still does not respond or you do not have another Remote, then use of Dealer Scan Tool is needed to Scan Vehicle for Trouble Codes & Reprogram

apprx 1 hour labor

No remote!!!!

Any other ideas
Expert:  Don 'Mo Lurch' replied 1 year ago.

sorry...........IF no Remote, then use of Dealer Scan Tool will be needed, as your vehicle has a "Transponder" & also Alarm System that disables the engine & Fuel Pump.
Either the Transponder is not being "rcognized" by the Body Control Module (BCM) or there is a issue with the seperate Alarm>
You can try the above with Door Key, but this will NOT prove out the Transponder.
There is no other customer way other than what I posted

I have an obd2 scan tool. Will that work?
Expert:  Don 'Mo Lurch' replied 1 year ago.

Only if it has the ability to access the BCM & Security System to Program
GM Scan Tool Candy Module is typically needed to Program on this year
Try the Key Lock & Unlock first
IF the Security Light flashes when you go to start after trying the above, it likely will be the Transponder
