How to troubleshoot my A/C compressor not engaging?

Customer Question

How to troubleshoot my A/C compressor not engaging?

I've checked all fuses (under hood and both side panels within car) except for the A/C BFC. Relays have all been tested as well. Thus far, all relays and fuses are fine. Compressor will not engage. It may need to be charged. However, I also know that you cannot charge without compressor engaged... Or so I've always been told? So, I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here.

Compressor isn't frozen up. It spins freely

No prob bud.

I'm gonna be quick and to the point. The compressor will not engage because there is a low pressure cut off switch that prevents it from coming on. This is because its low on charge. Get a can of 134a charge and connect it to the low side fiting, it can only fit the low side, and put the whole can in. If a few minutes when charging it the comp will kick on and cycle off real quick. thats because its stil low..keep putting it in until the comp stays engaged and is blowing cold.

The proper way to do this is with a set of gauges so you can see the high and low side pressure readings but they dont tell you that on the little cans they sell.
