2003 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3.8 engine. Bogs down and will not go above 4000 RPMs also valves rattle when given gas.

You will want to check the fuel pressure to see if it is too low.

  • Specifications

Fuel Pressure (Ignition ON, Engine OFF)

3.8L (VIN K) 364-405 kPa (53-59 psi)
3.8L (VIN 1) 334-375 kPa (48-54 psi)

Then if the fuel pressure and flow are good, the exhaust may be a little bit restricted. You can have a back pressure test done on it at most exhaust shops to see if the cat is clogged.

If they are both ok, then you will want to take a sample of the fuel to be sure that it’s not contaminated.
