Customer Question

I replaced the crank shaft sensor on a 2002 pontiac montana van and it cranked fine and ran twice. After checking the fuel pump I changed it and crank the van and let it ran for around 10 Minutes and turned it off, now it refused to crank. I tried the PK3 relearn and it dit not work either. I have plenty of gas coming up to the line conectors at the engine but it will not crank unless I soak a rag in gas and place it where the air filter is located. Run until the vapor is gone.

so right now the engine will not physically crank over when you try to start it?

Customer replied338 days and 6 hours ago.

It will crank over and try to crank. It will crank if I spray starter fluid in it but will not run unless I am spraying starter fluid in it.

ok just was making sure it would physially crank over. do you have any access to a fuel pressure gauge to connect to the test port on the fuel rail and tell me what the fuel PSI is key on engine off?also do you have a test light?if that engine physically cranks over it can not be the theft system as the theft system is supposed to not only disable the fuel injector but also the starter

Customer replied338 days and 5 hours ago.

No I do not have a fuel pressure gage but I will either find someone with one or buy one today. What must I do when I get one.

connect it to the test port on the fuel rail turn the key on and tell me what the PSI is reading on the gauge ALSO while your out make sure you pick up a test light if you do not have a good one on hand

Can a fuel pump go out after running fine.

Picture
Expert:  gmwrench replied338 days and 5 hours ago.

yes it can.or the fuel pressure is too low OR there is no injector signal to send fuel in.if it will run with a gas soaked rag its missing fuel from either low or no pressure or the injectors are missing the ground blink pulse from the computer

Customer replied337 days and 22 hours ago.

There was no fuel pressure. I removed the fuel pump and will return it Monday.

Customer replied337 days and 18 hours ago.

Where the ground blink pulse from the computer. I am new to working on GM vans and other GM products.
