ASE Master Guru :

Hello, my name is XXXXX. XXX you tell me which engine you have?....3.1L or 3.4L?

ASE Master Guru :

Assuming you have a 3.1L ..... The fuse and relay can both be found in the Right Hand side underhood electrical center.

Customer :

3.1 v6

i am right under the hood let me check

ASE Master Guru :

the right hand side would be considered the passenger side

Customer :
ASE Master Guru :

?

Customer :

I found it---too easy. I just replaced it same result....no start. I can squirt hot start in the EFI unit and it will start right up, As soon as I quit squirting the ether it stalls immediately. I just replaced the fuel pump and sending unit...No luck.

I am a pretty good backyard mechanic and this one has me scratching my head

ASE Master Guru :

is fuel pump running?

ASE Master Guru :

what is fuel pressure reading?

ASE Master Guru :

Have you verified power at the fuel pump harness connector (12volts on gray wire) while cranking?

Customer :

i can hear the fuel pump running...Let me turn the key and listen real close. yep its running with the key in the on postion

I can get gas to squirt from the fuel rail valve.

ASE Master Guru :

need a pressure reading if possible. Should be 40.5 to 47 key on engine off.

ASE Master Guru :

Did you replace fuel filter along with pump?

ASE Master Guru :

did you need further assistance?

Customer :

yes...i replaced the filter

Customer :
Customer :

i am sorry my internet connection was acting up

ASE Master Guru :

pressure reading????

Customer :

my pressure gage wont fit on the valve :(

ASE Master Guru :

did you check all fuses?

Customer :

i checked all the fuses underneath the hood and also looked at the ones in the glove box

Customer :
ASE Master Guru :

i am not sure what your initial problem was, you merely asked for locations for relay and fuse. Tell me everything that has happened up till this point and I will try to further assist you the best I can.

Customer :

i will go get my buddies pressure gage and get back to you. I gotts go. Tell me your name and I will request you again.

Customer :

I will pay for this session

ASE Master Guru :

just come back to this page... i will check in a few times over the weekend

Customer :

ok thanks.. i appreciate the help

ASE Master Guru :

In this format it will be difficult to live chat unless we both are logged in at the same time. Please feel free to contact me by responding to this post. What did you find out regarding the fuel pressure reading? And also please bring me up to speed on what exactly happened (so far the only thing I know for certain is "Where is the fuel pump relay and fuse located in a 1992 Pontiac Gran Prix) and what you have done/replaced/fixed up to this point. Any symptoms your car was exhibiting will also aid in diagnosis.
