I have had the MAF replaced 3 times now and my 2001 grand prix still throws code P0102
Country: CanadaMake: PontiacModel: Grand Prix GTYear: 2001Engine: 3.8 Already Tried: I have replaced the MAF 3 times.
we find very often it is a bad plug for the mass airflow and not the sensor itself
what should I be looking for at the plug? it appears to be clean and free of any corrosion
I have also noticed that since the problems started last fall, the transmission shifts hard and late. it does not happen all the time, it usually occurs after the engine warms up. I also received a code about long shifts, could these all be related to the same problem?
Yes this is commonly related to the mass air flow problem the wires are breaking on the inside of the insulation they are hard to test i pull on each wire hard and one will usually break i put a new plug and the problem is gone

How hard is it to replace the plug and wires and where can I get them?
you will just cut and splices the wires to the new plug most part stores have them available
Thank you for all your help, I will try this tomorrow and see if it fixes the issues.

I replaced the plug, the only place I could find one was at the dealership, $54.00. No change after installing it. Ran the car on Saturday several times, did a scan yesterday, still get the P0102 code. Any other ideas?
i will do some research does your car have a supercharger
No supercharger, just a 3.8 GT
i will do some looking
bad or loose air cleaner hose a aftermarket cold air intake a dirty throttle body these can also be the cause
Is there anywhere I can get instructions on how to check and clean these issues if they are the cause?
the tubes that run from the air cleaner you just ccheck them for cracks and be sure they are on and tight if you dont have a aftermarket air intake then this is not the issue i will see if i can fine some info on cleaning throttle body
Thank you.
