Hi there, I need a new engine in my 2005 Pontiac Wave. I can get a way better 06 engine for alot less than a 2005 engine. Will my guy be able to put a 06 engine in a 05 Wave? Thanks!
Country: CanadaMake: PontiacModel: WaveYear: 2005 Already Tried: Tried replacing timing belt pulley assembly. NO luck. Sent engine to re-builders. They say it is a write off. Need a new engine...
I'm Neal and I am here to assist you. Only accept when you are happy with my assistance. If I can't help I will open your Question to other experts.
Which engine do you have?
They are suggesting I buy this:http://www.ebay.com/itm/06-07-08-Aveo-Swift-Wave-Engine-1-6L-Motor-44K-OEM-LKQ-/200750218044?fits=Make%3AChevroletI don't know which engine I have? How would I know? Thanks,
Yes that is the right engine and that is a good company to buy from. They are dependable any warranty their parts, as far as ordering online that is about the best you can do in my opinion.
Experience: Experienced in most makes. Many years in family business.
Hi Neal, Thanks for your help. The company is saying that there may be some differences between the 2005 and 2006 engine. They say I need to be sure what those differences are or I'm on the hook. I'm told the differences are minor and that the "fitments" from my exisitng (dead) 2005engine should be all I need to hook up the 2006.Any chance you can elaborate on the differences? Thanks, Steve
Can they confirm it is correct based on your vin?
I show those as interchangeable, they may doing a little cya to make it clear you cannot return it.
If you are not sure you might want to try and find one locally.
Hi Neal, Some friends say they can install it. I've never done any of this before so I don't want to ship them the wrong item. My VINis KL2TW62675B419414. They think there are just some parts they need from the old engine to make it fit. "Fitments" they call them.Any chance you would know if that is true? Thanks a a ton!Steve
I cannot say for sure but I think that is correct, the important thing is to make sure the car the used engine came from has the same 8th digit in the vin. If it is an 05 or 06 it will work, the trick is to make sure that is what they send you.
