2007 Pontiac Torrent: latch..lift gate pcb relay located?2.

This answer was rated:

Hello this is Frank (2007 Pontiac Torrent) lift gate latch issue. Need further clarification on your answers yesterday.
1. Where is lift gate PCB relay located?
2. Fuse #4 IP - I'm not sure if I heard a click, there was to much other noise when doors unlock, my hearing is not great.

3. When do activate the fob - no power at fuse #4, can the relay close and not send an output to #4 fuse.

4. Applying power to #4 fuse does activate tailgate latch.

GM Tech (Cam) :

Hello, I'm Cam. Please include all the details about your issue so I can accurately advise you. I cannot see your vehicle so please be detailed.

GM Tech (Cam) :

Sure thing,

GM Tech (Cam) :

The PCB relay is Printed Circuit Board so it is integral to the fuse block.

Customer:

So if it is defective you have to change the entire fuse block?

GM Tech (Cam) :

yes,

GM Tech (Cam) :

the relay can click and not send power to the fuse, that would be bad contacts but then you should have been able to make the hatch unlock if you put power to that fuse unless there are 2 issues .

Customer:

Yesterday you mentioned using a scan tool in the diagnostic section. What kind of scan tool are you referring to- something like a Snap On or OTC quality?

GM Tech (Cam) :

yes, snap on solus, GM tech 2, OTc Genysis

Customer:

I dont own such an animal, just a goodmultimeter, will this work?

GM Tech (Cam) :

No, because it is a module, we need that sort of ability.

GM Tech (Cam) :

So you say now that putting power to the fuse did make it unlatch.

GM Tech (Cam) :

This does point even more to the fuse block

Customer:

Yes

GM Tech (Cam) :

They are bad for problems in these vehicles .

Customer:

So I have heard, among other problems with this vehicle, the steering module failed last year along with the tailgate glass wiper motor. As well traction control glitches that were covered under warranty. I think we have suv from hell.

GM Tech (Cam) :

Wonder if it would meed the lemon law in your area?

Customer:

Transport Canada has some regs. concerning safey related issues, not sure if there is an actual lemon law though.

GM Tech (Cam) :

Your in CAnada, OK, I know some states have them.

GM Tech (Cam) :

I would call GM and ask about some goodwill warranty on this

Customer:

Powering #4 fuse term. did not unlatch the gate, Correcting my response above.

GM Tech (Cam) : But it did not get powers either so you have 2 issues, a short may have causes the relay failure and be an open circuit now.
Customer:

Are you still responding?

GM Tech (Cam) :

Yes,

GM Tech (Cam) :

MY last reply did not come through then.

GM Tech (Cam) :

I was saying that this may be a cause and result. A short in the wiring may have caused the contacts to fail and also stops the actuator from working

GM Tech (Cam) :

Did you happen to get a chance to check the wiring in the boot from the body to the hatch?

Customer:

No not as yet, my daughter is wanting her SUV back . Will have to continue with this problem at a later date.

Customer:

Thanks again

GM Tech (Cam) :

OK, reply as you need, we can take as long as needed!!
