Cheers all,I have a 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP. For some time the passenger side airbag indicator light has failed to change when an adult sits in passenger seat. Now the display panel reads "service airbags". I took it into GM, who advised that we need a SDM module. I am extremely surprised. This is abnormal and safety issue and begs question of how many within its class/year have similar complaint findings, and should this not be a class recall before someone pays a price (at min, a voluntary recall) ?Are you able to confirm how widespread this electrical safety flaw is among the class/year?Wayne

Glad to be of help. This is currently being investigated and is wide spread. Here is documented proof.

ASEMaster35yrs,I am extremely grateful of your research and reply. My only request is if you have additional problem hits than that just above. Above demonstrates a very real potential of a class safety problem but, with at least 20 hits of same complaint, I suspect I can feel confident with assertion to GM dealer that this is in fact a class safety problem that GM should be voluntarily taking seriously as a voluntary recall before extending to the degree Toyota recently experienced. Can you assist with at least 11 more hits of this complaint; or what you can without extending beyond reason? Your response is certainly giving me, as first time user, confidence in this venue for research and resulting sage. Thank you much for your encouraging assistance. I look forward to your assist.

Service air bag error light came on. After reading some threads in forums, I saw that a lot of owners of this model were having the same problem. To replace the "sdm module" will cost over $500, so my car will be without and air bag on the passenger side.

ASEMaster35yrsThank you greatly for your thorough assist in my personal plight; greatly appreciated. I not only fully accept responses but, being a first time client/user of this site, have gained strong initial confidence. I will contact GM again to solicit their initial response, all the while being prepared to back my claim that there is more to it than an isolated individual safety issue that warrants voluntary recall for the sake of lives saved. Wish me luck as I broach this challenge.Wayne
Best of luck with your claim. Just remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease so if you have trouble with the service manager, go higher up, service representative and GM corporate if necessary. Thank you for your accept & bonus. Thank you for using just answer.
