how do i reset my passlock for a potiac g6 2007

Greetings and Welcome to Just answer.

30-Minute Relearn Procedure

Use this procedure after replacing any of the following components:

The PASS-Key III plus keys
The theft deterrent module (TDM)
The powertrain control module (PCM)

This procedure is not available on vehicles equipped with EXPORT configured TDMs.
When performing the 30-minute relearn procedure, all previously learned keys will be erased from the TDM memory. Additional keys may be learned after performing the relearn procedure.
When replacing a TDM with a GM SPO Replacement Part, ensure the procedure to setup a new TDM is performed prior to the 30-Minute Relearn Procedure.

  1. With a master vehicle key, turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the security indicator. After approximately 10 minutes, the telltale will turn OFF.
  3. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes.

Important: The vehicle learns the key transponder information and/or passwords on the ignition switch transition from OFF to RUN. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.

  5. With a master vehicle key, start the vehicle. The vehicle has now learned the key transponder information and/or the ECM has now learned the fuel continue password.

I tired that and it didn't work. it just makes a clicking sound when it turns over.
Ok, clicking, single click or rapid clicking?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
rapid clicks
Your battery is dead. Boost it or charge it.
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
Have already done that. It is hooked up to a battery charger and still does that. I have a DTC P2101? The clicking is rapid then single then back to rapid. It's not coming from the starter it sounds like it is coming from behind the dash or the air inlet.

Ok, You need to have the battery checked. If the battery is weak, it may show fully charged with a charger, but that only means it is not taking any amps. A bad battery will not and can show a false good. I suggest taking it and seeing if it shows bad on a load tester.

As for the code, does it reset if you clear it out?

Customer: replied 6 years ago.
Cleared out the code and it did not come back.

Ok, then test the battery as I suggested and see.

Customer: replied 6 years ago.
If it were just a dead battery wouldn't I still be able to jump it?

Not always. Sometimes they short out inside and will not allow it.

Customer: replied 6 years ago.
ok i will take it and have it tested and let you know. thanks
