Hello my name isWade and I look forward to helping you!

Is your Kohler a flapper flushe valve or piston?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I believe it is a piston, looks more like a cartridge
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Would it help if you sent a photo
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Oops meant if I sent a photo

Do you have a tank inside the porcelain tank. Is this a pressure assist toilet?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Not sure you understand the question. It is a cylinder that I removed and rep, aced seal on bottom of unit.
Expert:  WCohn replied 2 months ago.

I'm just trying to figure out which flush style you have. Did you remove a red gasket? Replace it with a red or yellow one?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Yellow
Expert:  WCohn replied 2 months ago.

Is it actually flushing or is the fill valve justv randomly coming on?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Just randomly coming on
Expert:  WCohn replied 2 months ago.

It may be a bad fill valve. Can you see water movement in the bowl?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
When? Anytime or just when it is a random fill
Expert:  WCohn replied 2 months ago.

Anytime. The fill valve should only come on when the level in the tank gets low. Try putting 6-8 drops of food coloring on the tank. Use blue. If you start getting blue water in the bowl after 15 minutes then we know it's going from the tank to the bowl and not leaking elsewhere. Also make sure there is slack in the chain. Is this a touch less flush system or do you have a handle?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I just put the food coloring in the tank. Will check back in 15 minutes. Toilet has handle.
Expert:  WCohn replied 2 months ago.

A couple of other things. 1. You need to have slack in chain

2. When you removed old gasket did you make sure the piston and the seat were smooth and had no nicks? 3. Make sure all the old gasket was removed. Sometimes little pieces stick and prevent the new gasket from sealing.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
As far as I know there were no nicks, the old gasket came off fine and new one went on fine. So far blue is staying in tank and not leaking into the bowl. How much d,ack in chain is normal?
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I meant slack in chain.
Expert:  WCohn replied 2 months ago.

2-4 extra links is good. If there is no blue in the bowl then it's not the gasket or the chain. It's most likely the fill valve. Try on last thing. Grasp the bottom of the bolts that hold the tank to the bowl. Are they wet? If not I think you need a fill valve. Use a fluid master 400A

Any other questions? Or are you satisfied with my service?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I inquired if you thought replacing the fill valve is an easy task for a homeowner.
Expert:  WCohn replied 2 months ago.

It is very very easy.

I have no problem with a phone call, but I feel once you have purchased a fill valve and read the instructions you will be able to do it. It is a very simple procedure.

Thank you.

Not a problem. We can always do a call later. Remember get a Fluidmaster 400A. Less than $10. Very easy.
