Water heater turning itself off during shower. Unit 4 years

Customer Question

Water heater turning itself off during shower. Unit 4 years old and never had this problem.
Can reset by turning shower off and restarting. Have checked water strainer and not clogged. Any suggestions?

Hello, we need to do a few tests.

Turn another hot tap on while you are taking the shower, and run the shower at higher than normal water flow during the shower... if that solves the problem, then then there is probably excessive water scale build up in the water heaters heat exchanger and it will need to be cleaned.

I need the brand and full model number of the water heater as well.

Let me know, we can go from there.

Rinnai Direct vent tankless water heater Model R94lsi. Tried opening another hot faucet and shower at same time. Unit still cut off. I am gonna try descaling unit according to manufacturers suggestions and see if this works. If you have any other suggestions please let me hear from you. Buddy
