Have a marathon 85 gallon hot water heater. Water leaking

Customer Question

Have a marathon 85 gallon hot water heater. Water leaking (profusely) from top of tank, between the water heater and the nut where cold water is attached. Trying to diagnose.

It's possible the tank nipple has failed. Are you sure it isn't coming from the tank? if it's not leaking from the tank then the fix is to disconnect the water line and replace the nipple. It rare for the tank to leak profusely in that area but not impossible.
