I have some glasses that smell like a wet dog when we drink

Customer Question

Hi, I have some glasses that smell like a wet dog when we drink from them. I don't get the smell when I unload the dishwasher. I also have 2 sinks that get a sewer smell when the water is turned on first thing in the morning or if we have been away for a few days. Any ideas?

This sounds like you might have a problem with a reaction with the anode rod in your water heater. This problem is not uncommon and results from a harmless bacteria in the reacting with the magnesium anode rod in the tank. The fix is to replace the rod with an aluminum/zinc rod and to bleach the tank.
