Are guest houses in California suppose to have AC units installed or is it just optional?

Charles :

Hello, and thanks for your question!!

Charles :

Charles

Customer:

Charles :

Your very welcome

Customer:

so in california we are suppose to die from the heat?

Customer:

as a tenant I just had to install it

Charles :

lol, you would think so.

Customer:

it was over 100% inside

Charles :

I live in cal

Customer:

lol

Charles :

I know how you feel

Customer:

i installed my own unit

Charles :

Window unit?

Customer:

i would just billed the landlord for the material

Customer:

yes

Customer:

$20 on material

Customer:

the wood, i cut it and the brackets to hold the unit at my guest house

Charles :

Was the landlord ok with you doing it?

Customer:

i never asked him.

Customer:

i just felt i needed it

Customer:

i sweat like a pig inside

Customer:

and landlord never considered having a unit

Charles :

I would not just send them a bill for it. I would ask them if you can do it first. By installing the wood and brackets you are technically altering his property.

Charles :

I would ask if they mind and let them know you will remove it when you move

Charles :

If they are good landlords they will offer to reimburse you

Customer:

ah

Charles :

If not, they can actually ask that you remove it because of the alterations

Charles :

I deal with ALLOT of rentals and am very familiar with this topic

Customer:

have you ever had a guest house with no ac?

Customer:

this is interesting

Customer:

the landlord built a house with no AC at all

Charles :

What city?

Customer:

pacoima

Charles :

OUCH

Charles :

that's gonna be hot for sure

Customer:

i also get outages, my house does. I got a UPS running in my office to protect my computers

Customer:

f yea

Customer:

lol

Charles :

Wish I had beyyer news for you

Customer:

my plumbing also gets clogged

Customer:

lol

Charles :

Now that's a lagit issue that they have to deal with!!

Customer:

landlord just has us rent the snake and reimburse us for the snake rental

Charles :

If he is willing to do that then he will most likely ok you to install the a/s, as long as you do a clean job.I would ask him before you let him know you actually did it

Customer:

ok

Charles :

Let him know that the cost of materials and the mounting system you install will stay in place for his next renter

Charles :

If your willing to eat the $20 for materials he will probably say go for it

Charles :

BTW, its suppose to hit 101 in your area this week

Customer:

thanks for the weather announcement

Customer:

lol

Charles :

I live in Rancho Cucamunga, I can tell you about the heat!! lol
