Moen Salora kitchen faucet water flow

Customer Question

I have replaced the cartridge on a Moen Salora kitchen faucet. After reassembly the water discharges from a hole in the side of the metal cylinder (the inside, not the casing) that comes from the base rather than the faucet hose. Only when pressure is over the hole does the water flow correctly. The hole is part of the manufacturing and not from some sort of damage. Marc the plumber : Hello and thank you for using JA.com. I will assist you today with your question. Please accept the answer upon completion of the Q&A process.
Marc the plumber : It sounds like you have an o- ring on the cartridge that has failed.
Marc the plumber : I just viewed your pictures and that is not normal operation. Water should not be coming out of that area!
Marc the plumber : You may wish to try another cartridge as I understand this is a new cartridge.
Marc the plumber : With the new cartridge that you installed, one thing to keep in mind... if the faucet was purchased from a box store such as Home Depot or Lowe's You may find that a cartridge from a plumbing supply store may not work correctly in that faucet and vice a versa. I am had this happen before.

Hi Marc, thanks for your replies. We tried new o-rings on the old and new cartridge and no dice. Moen actually just called before I checked your response and said they are sending me a brand new model to replace the entire thing. Pretty nice of them. Thank you for looking at my problem, though!
