I bought a used shower and tub made of cultured marble. It still has the dried glue on the back, i have scraped most off, do i need to get all of it off? Where I am installing it is now painted sheet rock- can i install right onto that? Thanks!
Welcome to Just Answer, I will do my best to help with your problem
You don't have to get all the glue off as long as there it has a good bond to the panels. You need to be sure to use enough new adhesive to get a good bond.
If the painted walls have a glossy or semi-gloss finish you need to sand the walls to get rid of the gloss. New wallboard would be better
its semi gloss
what kind of wallboard
and thickness?
The best option would be Denshield by Georgia Pacific. It's actually made as a tile backer but would work well in this case. http://www.gp.com/build/densshield-tilebacker-board
The thickness depends on the other surfaces your meeting up to
ok, that way if backerboard does get wet it will not get damaged like plywood. thanks im all set !!!
