Marc the plumber :

Hello and thank you for using JA.com. I will assist you today with your question. Please accept the answer upon completion of the Q&A process.

Marc the plumber :

Did you happen to splash water around the burner area, such as the flamable vapor sensor?

Marc the plumber :

if so, then the flamable vapor sensor needs replacing. Sorry to say. Most likely this is your problem

Customer:

That is the little sensor with 2 wires going thru the side plate?

Customer:

if so, can I hook the 2 wires together so as to check the sensor?

Marc the plumber :

correct, Although I cannot give you that advice, as it is a safety device...it may get you by while you get another. ;-) If you have a meter you can test for continuity if you disconnect the sensor and test across the sensor. no continuity, sensor is faulty

Marc the plumber :

there is the contact info for your water heater to order parts for it...

Customer:

Looks like it might be all 1 part? I bought it in 2008
