Did you happen to splash water around the burner area, such as the flamable vapor sensor?
if so, then the flamable vapor sensor needs replacing. Sorry to say. Most likely this is your problem
That is the little sensor with 2 wires going thru the side plate?
if so, can I hook the 2 wires together so as to check the sensor?
correct, Although I cannot give you that advice, as it is a safety device...it may get you by while you get another. ;-) If you have a meter you can test for continuity if you disconnect the sensor and test across the sensor. no continuity, sensor is faulty
there is the contact info for your water heater to order parts for it...
Looks like it might be all 1 part? I bought it in 2008
