When I flush my toilet I can hear the water draining through

Resolved Question:

When I flush my toilet I can hear the water draining through my sink in the bathroom. This is new. Am I getting ready to have a plumbing problem?

Rick the plumber :

Welcome to Just Answer, I will do my best to help you solve your problem

Rick the plumber :

This sounds like a possible venting issue. Given the possible difficulty with pinning it down and the potential cost to fix it

Rick the plumber :

it's probably best to wait and see if it gets worse

Customer:

I am leaving town for a few days and my disabled son will be staying here alone. I am afraid it will get worse while I am gone. It is in my bathroom, not his. Will that make a difference?

Rick the plumber :

Probably not and the potential problems aren't likely to com on suddenly. If you want to take preventative measures you could have your main sewer line snaked out as a precaution

Customer:

Okay, I would rather be safe than sorry. Do I need a plumber to snake out the main drain?

Rick the plumber :

A cheaper option would be a drain cleaning service

Customer:

Great, thanks so much.
