This answer was rated:

I have a small bathroom, 6'x6', that I want to remodel. Not going to move the sink or toilet but looking to re-tile the floor and shower stall (approx 3'x3'), possibly raise the shower head about a foot, add an overhead light and fan, recessed in the shower stall and two recessed lights in the ceiling outside the stall. I would like the shower stall to have a glass door and as low a profile to the floor as possible.

Two questions.

What is the best method/product to use for the shower floor pan?

What should I expect to pay for the labor on this job in the Baltimore, MD area?

Rick the plumber :

Welcome to Just Answer, I will do my best to help you solve your problem

Rick the plumber :

The best product for your shower base would be a pre-fabricated Swanstone shower base

Rick the plumber :

Give me a minute and I'll get you a link

Customer:

Thanks, Can you apply tile to the Swanstone?

Rick the plumber :

No

Rick the plumber :

If you want to tile the floor then you will need a mud job base

Rick the plumber :

There are prefab bases you can tile over but I can't recommend them

Customer:

Thanks

Rick the plumber :

Do you want the Swanstone link?

Customer:

No thanks I will go with mud. Any guidelines on the cost?

Rick the plumber :

Cost vary a lot from one section of the country to the next and from one job to the next. The only way fro you to get a meaningful price would be to get several estimates from local contractors

Customer:

Will do. Thanks for the help.
