Plastic Surgeon : Thank you for your question. An abdominoplasty - tummy tuck- is an excellent procedure in the properly selected patient. You should see a board certified plastic surgeon who has experience in that surgery. There are many well qualified plastic surgeons in private practice but you could always go to the University of Virginia-Department of Palstic Surgery. You should have at least 2 consultations prior to choosing your surgeon.
Plastic Surgeon : You can call a few offices of plastic surgeons and ask to talk to the office manager. The office manager can tell you how many tummy tucks are done in their office. You want a surgeon with experience. The cost varies from plastic surgeon to plastic surgeon but the cost should be between $5,000 and $7,500. This should include anesthesia and surgical facility cost.

Again, thanks for your question. You would be a candidate for this procedure, tummy tuck, if you have very loose skin on your lower abdomen and if you are not planning to become pregnant or gain significant weight in the near future ( as this will cause the skin to stretch out again). Also, you should be in good Health. All plastic surgeons ,especially if they are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, are trained in "tummy tuck" surgery and the cost vary from around 5 to 7,000 dollars, depending on where it is done, the anesthesia & operating room costs and skills of the plastic surgeon. Insurance is unlikely to cover the cost, unless there is massive weight loss (often 100 pounds) or after delivery of twins,or more. I advise consulting with or calling the office nurse or administrator of several local plastic surgeons. Best of luck to you.
