My Panasonic KX-FM220 is more than 20 years old. The anwering machine tape does not kick in with the usual answer. At times is just keep ringing or at times it answers with a different message.
JA: Just to clarify, what's the exact make and model of your machine?
Customer: KX-FM220
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: It is going on about four days. I have not idea how to trouble shoot.
JA: Anything else you want the electronics expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: Not that I know.

1) Do you still have the manual for this system?

2) Have you had ANY power issues recently - about the time this issue started?

3) What phone service provider (phone company) you have for this phone line?

4) Do you actually use this line for FAX uses AND messages?

5) Is this a SEPARATE phone line from your "normal" voice service?
